Dr. Kedar Sawleshwarkar is a dedicated neonatologist and pediatrician with a distinctive blend of clinical expertise, academic insight, and systems leadership. With a deep commitment to improving outcomes for newborns, he combines hands-on pediatric care with a strategic focus on healthcare quality, systems thinking, and the psychology of change.
Dr. Kedar has a special interest in Whole System Quality and Quality Management Systems in healthcare. His leadership in quality improvement is grounded in formal training, having completed the prestigious Quality Leadership Development Program from the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI). He brings this expertise into action as the Lead Faculty for the “Addressing the Human Side of Change” Workshop in India, guiding healthcare professionals to implement sustainable, people-centered improvements.
He serves as Associate Professor of Pediatrics at R.K. Damani Medical College, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, where he mentors future clinicians and healthcare leaders. He is also the Director of Deogiri Children’s Hospital, a center committed to delivering compassionate, high-quality pediatric and neonatal care.
As an advocate for safe and developmentally appropriate neonatal care, Dr. Kedar plays a vital national role in capacity building. He is a National Faculty for:
•Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
•Developmentally Supportive Care in NICU
•Neonatal Emergency Simulation Team Training
He also contributes as a National Instructor in Facility-Based Newborn Care (FBNC) under the Government of India’s national program, helping shape the country’s neonatal health strategies.
In recognition of his contributions, he was honored with the M/S Signature Award (2022) for Innovation in Healthcare.
Beyond clinical and teaching roles, Dr. Kedar Sawleshwarkar is also active in academic publishing. He serves as an Associate Editor for the BMJ Open Quality (South Asia Supplement), contributing to the advancement of QI knowledge and practices in the region.
With his multi-faceted involvement in clinical care, quality improvement, education, and system leadership, Dr. Kedar Sawleshwarkar represents a new generation of healthcare leaders who are not only skilled clinicians but also change agents dedicated to building resilient, compassionate, and high-performing healthcare systems.
